2012 rescued by gold.

Boris changes his mind about the London Olympics. Gilligan does too. (One car, one direction.)

So, Gilligan spends months moaning about them when they were the "Ken Olympics", now they are the "Boris Olympics" they are the best thing since sliced bread.

I wonder what will happen when Boris concedes that the Bendy Bus is the best solution for the routes it is on...

Well exactly prj45 - it's just Gilligan all over.

Take another aspect of the olympics: When Livingstone was asked whether he had raised the subject of human rights abuses with the Chinese hosts and responded with a no ("private matters") Gilligan accused him of defending their record.

Yet when Boris admitted he had not raised the issue with the Chinese hosts ("not the right time") Gilligan fails to mention it at all.

When a scandal arises that is arguably comparable with one from the last administration Gilligan's defences go up: "Ray Lewis is no Lee Jasper. No wrongdoing happened on the Mayor's watch".

And Tim Parker? When he was first hired Gilligan hailed him as being key to an "essential revolutionary moment".

But when he resigns Gilligan suddenly changes his mind: "Boris does need authority and experience behind him but more like that of, say, Jonathan Powell, than of Tim Parker".
